About Sealy

Since 1881, Sealy claims to have “been helping American families sleep better by designing high-quality, trusted mattresses.” Originally designed in the U.S. before spreading globally, they’re likely one of the brands you think of when it comes to mattresses.

All Sealy mattress foams are CertiPUR-US certified, except the Naturals Hybrid, ensuring safety. The Naturals Hybrid is Greenguard Gold certified, meaning it is produced with eco-friendly materials. All Sealy products are also regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which means that their mattresses meet all safety guidelines, including having low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.

Sealy Mattress Options and Prices

The Sealy brand produces four mattress lines: Cocoon, Essentials, Posturepedic, Posturepedic Plus and Naturals. The popular Cocoon Chill mattresses feature an upgraded knit cover from the Classic version that helps dispel heat.

Sealy’s other lines, like the Essentials, come with two coil mattress options–the Euro top and the pillow top–which can offer cushioning and support. Its Posturepedic and Posturepedic Plus lines both feature targeted support that focuses on the heaviest parts of your body.

Sealy Warranties and Discounts

The Sealy website mentions various discounts throughout the year, especially surrounding holidays.

The company also grants customers a 10-year limited warranty to all its mattresses. However, this only applies to defective products–sold by an authorized seller–due to faulty materials or construction.

What Users Say About Sealy

According to the reviews from ConsumerAffairs and the Sealy site, concerns with the mattress are mainly due to its stiffness, with some noting back pain as well.

A reviewer on the Sealy site said, “The mattress is too hard. Unfortunately, it’s hard to determine that without sleeping on it for several nights. Now that we have had it for over a year, it has not gotten any better. My back and sides hurt when waking up.”

As for the mattress itself, thousands of customers are satisfied and agree that the Sealy brand is a great buy.

“Our longest lasting mattress was a queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic which lasted almost 20 years,” said a customer from the ConsumerAffairs site. “The next two were Beautyrest – a queen plush top that was not comfortable too firm, and a king cushion – top that began to show where we slept within one year. So we went back to a Sealy, got a hybrid-softest because I had a hip injury. We are side and back sleepers. Have had it for two and a half years. So far so good. I often think of how good the mattress feels when I’m lying on it.”

About Beautyrest

Founded in 1870, Simmons, parent company to Beautyrest, introduced the Beautyrest line in 1925. Their Beautyrest Black collection later emerged in 2006. Beautyrest’s mattress fleet includes three different collections with a combined seven mattress models in total.

Just like its counterpart, Sealy, all foams in Beautyrest mattresses are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they meet indoor air quality standards and do not include harmful materials.

In addition to its Black, Harmony and Nate Berkus mattress collections, Beautyrest also sells bed frames and other bedding products.

Beautyrest Mattress Options and Prices

The Beautyrest line of mattresses includes all hybrid models, featuring various combinations of coils and foam.  This includes the Beautyrest Black and Black Hybrid from the Black collection, the Harmony Lux Carbon, Harmony Lux Diamond, Harmony Lux Hybrid and Harmony from the Harmony collection and the Beautyrest by Natyre Berkus from the Nate Berkus collection.

The Beautyrest Black collection, uses its BLACKICE plant-based cooling technology to dissipate heat, which could be a plus for those who sleep hot.

Thanks to the introduction of the RightTemp Wave Foam, the Harmony collection should sleep cool and comfortable all night. For those who want a touch of luxury to their comfort, the Nate Berkus combines Nate’s signature designs with the Micro Diamond memory foam designed to absorb heat from your body and keep you cool while asleep.

Simmons offers a 10-year limited warranty on its mattresses which covers the defects during production. It does not cover normal wear and tear that may occur while owning your mattress.

What Users Say About Beautyrest

According to the reviews from ConsumerAffairs, concerns with the mattress are mainly due to its softness or plushness as some say they would prefer something harder. Other than that, the majority like the brand for its high quality and comfort.

One customer review on ConsumerAffairs wrote, “Beautyrest mattress is one of the most comfortable and reasonably priced. Had back problems and this helps me sleep comfortably. Have owned one for three years and still supports like new. Would recommend for all sleep problems with different price ranges. You can’t afford not to have a Beautyrest.”
