About Awara

Awara is a mattress brand owned by Resident, the parent company behind big sleep brands including  Nectar, DreamCloud and Level Sleep.

Established in 2019, Awara claims its mission is to help people everywhere get better sleep. It produces mattresses made from naturally sourced and organic materials. The company offers two mattress models, bed frames and other bedding products. Awara sells its mattresses, packaged in a box, directly to customers, and you can only shop these mattresses or its other offerings on the website.

Awara mattresses have environmental certifications from third-party certifying agencies. These certifications include The Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, UL GREENGUARD Gold, The Rainforest Alliance and Forest Stewardship Council.

Awara Mattress Options and Prices

Awara offers two mattress models; the Natural Hybrid and Premier Natural Hybrid.

Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress

The Awara Natural Hybrid is a 10-inch, natural and organic mattress made up of three layers. At $1,099 for a queen-sized model, this mattress is made with natural Dunlop latex, organic New Zealand wool and silky organic cotton. Its organic wool cover helps wick away moisture, create airflow and decrease bacteria.

Its 2-inch latex layer provides contouring and support to pressure points and joints. It features individually wrapped 8-inch coils that isolate motion and make the bed more breathable. It has a sturdy base that features four reinforced handles that help you move the bed easily.

Plus, the mattress has a medium-firm feel (7/10 firmness level), making it well-suited for many stomach, back and side sleepers, as well as those who suffer from shoulder pain and back stiffness.

Awara Premier Natural Hybrid Mattress

A 12-inch mattress, the Premier Natural Hybrid is the upgraded version of the Awara Natural Hybrid.

It’s made with organic cotton, New Zealand wool and natural latex. Its top layer is a plush euro top, designed to keep you cool and dry throughout the night. Its 4-inch Dunlop latex layer offers relief to joints and pressure points and contour to the body. It also has four reinforced handles attached to its base, which help users move the mattress easily.

This model costs $1,499 for a queen. Just slightly softer than the Natural Hybrid, it has a 6.5 firmness level, making it another medium-firm mattress that’s ideal for most sleeping positions, as well as various pain points.

Apps and Accessories

Awara produces other bedroom items, including:

  • A platform bed
  • A bed frame with a headboard
  • An Adjustable frame
  • An organic cotton bed sheet set
  • An Awara latex pillow
  • An organic mattress pad
  • An organic duvet cover
  • An organic mattress protector

Warranties and Discounts

Awara offers a limited lifetime warranty for original purchasers of the mattress. The warranty allows original purchasers to get a new mattress due to defects in workmanship or materials within the first 10 years. After 10 years, Awara says it will repair, re-cover or replace defective mattresses as appropriate.

Awara is currently selling both mattresses at up to $300 off the regular selling price. Each mattress comes with $499 worth of bedding accessories, too.

What Users Say

Awara is not Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited and has an NR (no rating) rating on the site. The brand has 108 complaints, most of which are about issues with the mattress, canceling orders, customer service, its return policy and delivery.

One review on BBB claims that they bought the mattress and figured it wasn’t good for them, but found it impossible to reach the company. Another alleges that the mattress wasn’t a good product because it was uncomfortable and had a broken spring.

Awara has a 2.6 out of 5 stars rating on TrustPilot based on just four reviews. Reviewers weren’t satisfied with the mattress, the company’s customer service and the return policy.

One reviewer writes, “I feel confident the reviews on the website are fake. The mattress is terrible for stomach sleepers. It’s both saggy AND uncomfortably hard on top.”

Who Should Purchase an Awara Mattress?

Awara could be a good choice for sustainability-conscious shoppers looking for reasonably-priced mattresses to support their sleep needs.

Because both Awara mattresses are medium-firm, they should be comfortable for back, side and stomach sleepers because they keep the spine in proper alignment and sleepers who experience body pains. People prone to sleeping hot may also benefit from the cooling wool top layer featured on its mattresses.Â
